In any environment, the experience of the guest is influenced and engaged by each of the senses. This is especially essential in a restaurant environment where every element is crucial to the overall dining experience. When working with Chef Brandon Olsen for his new French-Bistro, La Banane, he had a clear vision for each touchpoint of experience for his guests. To Chef, the banana has always been emblematic of happiness and contentment. Our studio worked closely with Chef Olsen and his team to integrate this sentiment as a driver for the guest experience and interior design.

Village Juicery, Bloor Street West

In the summer of 2017, Mason Studio completed the 4th retail space for Village Juicery in the Bloor Street West neightbourhood of Toronto. It is a continued pleasure to work with the Village Juicery team to provide spaces that facilitate discussion, education, and enjoyment of their health and wellness products. We look forward to the completion of the next space currently under construction at Yorkdale Shopping Mall.

Eva's Home for Life, 2017

Mason Studio was pleased to support Evia's Initiative at their annual Home for Life auction on June 7th, 2017. We created a living space with donated furniture from some of our favorite Toronto designers and retailers. All items were auctioned off with proceeds going to support Eva's work to help homeless and at risk youth make the transition to independent living.

PROpel Challenge

On June 5th 2016, Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) invited Mason Studio Partners, Stanley Sun and Ashley Rumsey to Ottawa, Ontario to be Keynote speakers at PROpel; an annual interactive program and conference for emerging interior design professionals.

As a summation of their talk, the following challenge was proposed to the delegates.


Challenge:
Determine the driving factors for you to exist in a state of self-perpetuation. Find your source inspiration. Learn everything there is to know about the topic to learn how it drives you. Analyze the impact by searching beyond the surface and find the root of the message and meaning.

Brief:
Write your own brief to respond to this challenge.
It can be anything! (i.e. object/event/installation/space/website/music /play/recipe etc.)

Criteria:
Consider the topics discussed in Mason Studio’s keynote address:

  • Adapting a current model
  • Creating the greatest benefit
  • Liberation from creativity
  • Look outwork, focus internally
  • Define the individual

Submit:
Create a proposal for Mason Studio’s review
Submit to: info@mason-studio.com
Date: August 31, 2016

Result:
Mason Studio will select a brief that most clearly understands the root source of inspiration and responds to it with the greatest impact.

They will support the selected brief in the manner that is defined by the applicant within the brief.
(i.e. as a sounding board, as financial backers, as cheerleaders, your marketing team etc.)

Mason Turns 5!

The month of May, 2016 marks Mason's 5th birthday.

We have a lot to reflect on and be thankful for. In the past five years, we have had the opportunity to collaborate with countless inspiring companies and individuals as we explore how the manipulation of interior environmental factors affect human emotion and behavior. Thank you to all of our clients, colleagues, collaborators, friends and family for your support in our work.

We can't wait to see what the next five years will bring.
